Enrolling on the Spark Driver™ platform

These instructions do not guarantee Spark Driver™ platform eligibility.
Once you have created an account, you can find your enrollment status and Spark Driver decision information within your app account.

Eligibility 

To be eligible to enroll on the Spark Driver platform, an applicant must meet the following requirements: 

  • Be age 18 or older; 
  • Provide your true and accurate name, phone number, email address, mailing address, and Social Security number; 
  • Be authorized to perform services as an independent contractor in the U.S.; 
  • Have an unexpired, valid REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or driver's license in your name issued by a state in the U.S. and a Social Security card; 
  • Verify your identity using a driver's license (as described above) and a selfie; 
  • Have a mobile phone number with the U.S. country code +1 followed by ten digits;  
  • Provide proof of valid auto insurance for the vehicle you’ll use, which includes: your name, expiration date, and vehicle information; 
  • Have a clean and reliable vehicle; and 
  • Have a mobile device with camera and GPS capabilities.  

Background screenings may be conducted, including motor vehicle records and criminal background checks; reviews will be conducted in accordance with applicable laws.   

Sign up 

You can get started by downloading the Spark Driver app from the App Store or Google Play and signing up right from your mobile device.

Or you can choose to use sparkdriverapp.com/enroll and begin your enrollment online. Clicking SIGN UP will take you to the Sign up or log in screen.

Once you are on the Sign up or log in screen, you can enter the email address that you want to use for your account and select CONTINUE.

  • If an account already exists with the email address, you can continue to log into your Spark Driver account.
  • For issues with logging into your account, use Logging into the Spark Driver™ app.

If no account is linked to your email address, you can Create your Spark Driver account.

Create your account

In the Create your Spark Driver account screen, you can enter your personal information and select CONTINUE.

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Phone number
  • Password

After entering your contact details, enter your verification code sent to your mobile device and select Create Account to complete account setup.

Verify your eligibility

Next, you can review and follow the in-app prompts to confirm you meet eligibility requirements to drive on the Spark Driver platform.

Customize communications

You’ll have the option to opt in to receive text messages and emails. These updates include messages about enrollment, incentives, and new features.

Zone selection

You can enter your ZIP code to view available delivery zones.

Once a zone is selected, it cannot be changed until you are approved and have completed a minimum of three deliveries.

Next, you can choose your preferred zone and select CONTINUE.

  • If zones are available, you’ll see them listed.
  • If all zones are full, you’ll see a message letting you know the zone is full.

You can sign into the app anytime to check the status of your selected zone.

Enter personal information

If the zone you selected is open, you can complete the Sign-up checklist to update your personal information.

This information is used to create your account and complete identity verification before you can move forward with the enrollment process.

You’ll be asked to share your:

  • Legal name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Home address
  • Social Security Number (SSN)
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license details
To avoid delays or issues with your verification, check that all information is entered correctly before continuing.

You’ll then be asked to set up your electronic signature and sign the Non-Disclosure and Dispute Resolution Agreement for the Spark Driver platform.

Once you’ve submitted your personal information and signed the required documents, the pre-screening process will begin.

Pre-screening does not guarantee approval to drive on the Spark Driver platform. Applications may be flagged for manual review or withdrawn based on screening results.

Any details about a Spark Driver enrollment decision will be shared in your Spark Driver app.

Upload auto insurance

Once your information has been submitted for pre-screening, you can upload your auto insurance by following these steps:

  1. Tap START under Auto Insurance to begin the upload process. You’ll see tips for uploading your insurance document.
  2. Tap Upload a Picture to add your document. 
  • Supported document formats include .jpg, .png, and .pdf.
  • Once the selected document is ready, it will show in the app.
  1. Tap SUBMIT to complete the upload.

Identity verification checks

To protect your account, you’ll be asked to complete several identity verification steps. This information will be used for your background check screening and includes:

  • providing your SSN,
  • uploading a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or standard driver’s license, and
  • taking a selfie when prompted in the app.
The selfie you submit will become your profile photo in the Spark Driver app and may be seen by Walmart associates and customers. You can update the photo once every 90 days.

To take a good photo, you can:

  • check the area is well lit – avoid direct glare.
  • remove sunglasses, hats, and face coverings.
  • hold your phone level with your face – avoid high or low angles.
  • turn your head slowly left to right when prompted to keep your entire face in the frame.
Photos including anything inappropriate or offensive content (like nudity or rude hand gestures) will be rejected and can lead to deactivation.

Sign documents 

To be considered for the Spark Driver platform, you’ll need to review and sign several required documents. These include:

  • Background Check Disclosure
  • Motor Vehicle Records Consent
  • other enrollment-related agreements

To review and sign the documents, you can:

  1. open each document to review its contents.
  2. sign using your electronic signature.
  3. submit to confirm your agreement and continue.

Background check and additional screening

After you sign your documents, your background check will be handled by a third-party screening provider. This screening may include:

  • Motor vehicle records
  • Criminal history checks

All reviews are conducted in accordance with applicable laws.

For questions about your background check status or results, you can view the email sent to you by the screening provider.

Waitlist

All applicants are placed on a waitlist before final verification.

While your information is reviewed and your selected zone availability is being confirmed, you can log into your Spark Driver account to check your status.

You’ll receive updates throughout the process, including details on how to get started with your first delivery when your selected zone opens.

Earnings setup

Once you are no longer on the waitlist, you can complete your Account setup within your Spark Driver app starting with your earnings preferences.

To choose how you get your earnings, you can:

  1. tap START.
  2. tap APPLY FOR ONEPAY CASH or LINK BANKING ACCOUNT.
  3. follow the in-app prompts to link account.
An earnings account must be successfully linked to your account to drive on the Spark Driver platform.
Not having a linked earnings account can lead to account deactivation.

The next step in the Account setup is to update and sign your tax preferences and consent documents.

This will be prompted to you in three sections: W-9 form, Tax e-consent, and Document review,

To complete the W-9 form section, you can:

  1. tap START.
  2. confirm your information is correct and sign your W-9.
  3. tap SUBMIT to continue.

To complete the Tax e-consent section, you can:

  1. tap START.
  2. select e-delivery or mail delivery for your tax forms.
  3. tap SUBMIT to continue.

Spark Driver contract and Spark Now

Before accepting offers, you must sign the Spark Driver Contract and App Terms of Use, Non-Disclosure and Dispute Resolution Agreement, and other agreements required to complete enrollment to be considered for the Spark Driver platform.

These documents outline your responsibilities and service standards.

To complete the Document review section, you can complete these steps for each document if you:

  1. tap START.
  2. read and review each document.
  3. tap AGREE to continue and sign with e-signature.
  • Choosing DECLINE for either document will not allow you to continue your Account setup for the Spark Driver platform.
  1. tap SUBMIT.

Once you’re approved, you’ll be able to turn on Spark Now in the Spark Driver app.

When Spark Now is turned on, you’ll start receiving offers in your selected zone. You get to decide which offers to accept and when you want to drive.
