Delivering to different location types

Updated by Lainey Howard

Customers may ask for orders to be delivered to different delivery locations, such as apartment buildings, hotels or resorts, businesses, or college campuses.

  • For these locations, customers may use the Customer notes on the order to give additional info for drivers to complete the delivery successfully.
  • If you need help delivering the order to the correct location, you can tap CONTACT on the order screen to communicate with the customer directly.
  • The Spark Driver Contract and App Terms of Use prohibits entering the customer’s home or non-public areas of a business.
    • This doesn’t apply to common or public areas like businesses’ lobbies or reception areas.

Can't complete the delivery?

If you can’t complete the delivery, you can start a return for the order if:

  • the customer wasn’t available to complete identity verification or provide OTP for an “attended delivery.”
    • You can review Delivery for more information about specific order types.
  • the delivery location couldn’t be found, or the drop-off location wasn’t safe or accessible to complete the delivery.
  • the order contained items that couldn’t be delivered to the specific delivery location.

To start a return for the order, you can see Returning an order for more info.

Apartment buildings

  • It’s helpful to check the Customer notes to see if the customer shared a community gate code or any other info for the driver to complete the delivery.
  • The order should be delivered to the customer’s apartment doorstep.

  • To support safety and customer privacy, you can drop off the order at the customer’s door or hand off items to the customer from the doorway.
